The following is a gripping, first-person account from a Canadian who was staying at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai when the terrorists hit. He relates step-by-step the horrific events of that night and the hours that followed and praises the Indian public for their courage and humanity in helping him and others escape. His report has not been edited except for removing information that would identify him personally. He probably would not mind, but this very personal account was obviously written for a few friends and relatives. Read on . . . . .
Hey guys.
Got all your notes. Thank you. I'm ok. A little shaky to be honest but
really just happy to be here. I can't thank you enough for your notes.
You have no idea what the mean to me. Hope to see and speak to you all soon.
I wrote the following on the plane.
It's 3.33 am Thursday Nov 27th. And I am writing this from Jet Airways
flight 0227, First leg of the Mumbai – Brussels - Toronto – Vancouver
journey . It is a stream of "adrenaline" piece. I apologize in advance for
the grammatical errors. But I wanted it raw and unedited.
First, some context. . . . . . .

Was the murder and mayhem in Mumbai the next surge for al-Qaida operations as announced by one of their Yemeni spokesmen just three weeks ago?
Or is it just the precursor of much greater, more violent, more “spectacular” events to come?
We don’t know, of course, just who the Deccan Mujahadeen (which claimed responsibility for the Mumbai attacks) is. Or what it represents. Or what connection, if any, it has to al-Qaida.
We must, however, recall that . . . . . .

A former CIA officer offers comments on who organized and carried out the attacks on hotels, a train station, restaurants, and at least one tourist attraction in Mumbai (Bombay), India. He provides historical expertise on terrorism in India, the Kashmir issue, and a discussion of various terrorist organizations (and their usual procedures) operating on the Indian sub-continent. Many of us were shocked when all three CEOs of the Detroit automakers flew to Washington in his own Lear jet (at a cost of about $20,000 each) to explain why they needed 25 billion taxpayer dollars to keep their companies from crashing and burning.
This blunder serves as an apt metaphor for the incredible mismanagement of the US auto industry for the past two or three decades. Since 1998 they have been losing . . . .

An Economics Professor Advises the Federal Government Not to Throw Good Money After Bad to Bail out the automakers in Detroit.. The problems are just too deep, he says. They have other options which they should choose. Left alone (without federal welfare, not all three of them would fail and the consequences, e.g. loss of jobs, have been greatly exaggerated.
Just say 'No' to auto companies

After years of fighting Congressional efforts to regulate the auto industry, The U.S.’s Big Three automakers — General Motors (GM), Ford, and Chrysler — are now turning to Congress for help. While such assistance might make good political sense for Democrats, it is very bad policy.
The Big Three automakers have struggled for decades against foreign competitors like Toyota and Honda, but . . . . . .

It was only a week ago that an Arabic newpaper based in London reported from highly placed al-Qaida sources that Osama bin-Laden and his terrorist thugs expected to carry out a new attack on the West in the near future, an attack that would "outdo by far" the attacks of 9/11. The Yemeni al-Qaida official quoted in the story expected the attacks would be "in the next few days"
The newspaper, Al-Quds Al-Arabi, quoted the Yemeni official, as saying that Osama expected the attacks to "change the face of world politics and world economies."
This morning AP reports that Somali "pirates" have hijacked a supertanker filled with about two million barrels . . . . .

Mary and her husband Jim had a dog named Lucky. Lucky was a real character. Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a weekend visit they would warn their friends to not leave their luggage open because Lucky would help himself to whatever struck his fancy. Inevitably, someone would forget and something would come up missing. Mary or Jim would go to Lucky's toy box in the basement and there the treasure would be, amid all of Lucky's other favorite toys. Lucky always stashed his finds in his toy box and he was very particular that his toys stay in the box.
It happened that Mary found out she had breast cancer. Something told her she was going to die of this disease...in fact , she was just sure it was fatal. She scheduled the double mastectomy, . . . . .

(The following, posted from MarketWatch, provides valuable insight into an exciting new partial solution to our national crisis of dependence on foreign oil. This blog considers that achieving energy independence is a matter of critical national security and urges that we, as a nation, explore and develop both multiple alternative energy sources and additional sources of petroleum, gas, and coal. This story is posted to explain one of those alternative sources. It is NOT intended as a recommendation to buy stock in any of the companies named here.)

Some Bird Brain!!!
by Bethany Sanders
(Comment from Mignon Evans: Please note that the parrot spoke meaningful words; he did NOT just repeat sounds that had been spoken in his presence. In short, he communicated!)
When two-year-old Hannah started choking on her snack, no one was around to help. No one human, anyway. Hannah's babysitter was in the bathroom, completely unaware, but someone did see that Hannah needed help - the babysitter's pet parrot.
The bird started shrieking loudly, then began to repeat the words, "Mama, baby, mama, baby," over and over again. Meagan, the babysitter, spotted the child, who had already began to turn blue, and performed the Heimlich maneuver. Hannah is fine, much to the relief of her parents and sitter.
It's fairly common to hear about cats and dogs sounding the alarm when family members are in trouble. When our ancient dog fell into our pool late one evening years ago and couldn't get out, our cat literally saved her life by meowing in a way we couldn't possibly ignore. But this is the first time I've heard about a bird, especially a bird that's not part of the family, saving a child's life. It's a good reminder that our pets are a lot more complex than we give them credit for.

Fugitive terrorist Osama bin Laden is planning new attacks against the U.S. that will "outdo by far" the attacks of 9/11, according to a report in a London-based Arabic newspaper.
The paper, Al-Quds Al-Arabi, quotes a former senior Yemeni al-Qaida official saying the terror group is now in a “positive phase,” of staffing and rebuilding training camps around the globe. The action will lead to the next “wave of action” against the U.S., the paper reported.
“This will be shown by the fact that we now control a major part of the south of . . . . .

Kuwaiti Daily Reveals: Iran Building Secret Nuclear Reactor
On July 29, 2008, the Kuwaiti daily Al-Siyassa reported that, according to "highly reliable sources," Iranian authorities had begun construction of a secret nuclear reactor in the Al-Zarqan region close to the city of Ahwaz in southwest Iran, on the Iran-Iraq border.
The paper said that according to sources, Iran was working to distance its nuclear installations from international oversight. The English version of the report, published in the Kuwaiti Arab Times, said, "Disclosing [that] Tehran directed international A-bomb inspectors to other places, sources warned [that] the project poses a very serious threat to international security."
Also according to the sources, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) did not know about this site at all, since it was not included in negotiations with Iran in Geneva held in early July. |

. Obama Has Links to ANOTHER '60s Radical
Barack Obama has consistently sought to distance himself from former domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. But it’s a different story with another student radical from the 1960s — Marilyn Katz — who is actually on Obama’s fundraising team.
Katz, a public relations executive in Chicago, serves on Obama’s national finance committee. She is listed as a fundraising “bundler” on his Web site, has hosted fundraisers for the candidate, and attended the Democratic Convention as part of the Illinois delegation.
